JP Transfers

There will be circumstances where experienced Justices of the Peace may seek a transfer to another Justice of the Peace court.  For example

• An individual wishes to move within a Sheriffdom
• An individual wishes to move to a different Sheriffdom
• An individual is moving from another part of the UK

Decisions in respect of the first group i.e. moves within the Sheriffdom will be made by the Sheriff Principal taking advice from the Justice of the Peace Advisory Committee (JPAC).

Decisions in respect of the second and third group will be made by the Scottish Ministers. These types of move are regarded as new appointments.
