JP Slate

A slate is a ‘reserve list’ of people who have performed well at interview and assessment but a vacancy has not been identified for them.

It is up to the Justice of the Peace Advisory Committee (JPAC) for each Sheriffdom to decide whether or not they want to create a slate.

Those going onto the slate will be advised

  • For how long the slate will run and that, if they are not called up from the slate in that time they will, should they so wish, automatically be called for interview when vacancies are next advertised
  • That they will hear from the JPAC at least every six months about the position of the slate and the anticipated availability of vacancies
  • When vacancies for which they have expressed an interest are likely to arise they can be asked to confirm that they continue to be interested in becoming a Justice of the Peace and attend the training
