Where You Will Sit
There is a statutory requirement that a Justice of the Peace must reside within the Sheriffdom where they will sit or within 15 miles of it.
Justices of the Peace perform their role within the Sheriffdom in which they live and can be asked to travel - but only within the Sheriffdom area. Scotland has 6 Sheriffdoms:
- Glasgow and Strathkelvin
- Grampian, Highlands and Islands
- Lothian and Borders
- North Strathclyde
- South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway
- Tayside, Central and Fife
The
