Time Off Work and Remuneration

All employers must, by law, allow time off work to enable a Justice of the Peace to undertake their role. Many will arrange for this time off to be provided with pay. However, if this is not possible, then you can also claim for loss of earnings.

Justices of the Peace receive no payment, but can claim allowances and expenses incurred whilst carrying out their duties.  They can claim:

  • travel expenses.
  • day and night subsistence.
  • financial loss allowance.
  • carers allowance.

Any outlay on stationery, printing and phone calls will not be reimbursed.
