Term of Office

A Justice of the Peace will hold office for a period of five years. There is a presumption that an appointment will be renewed, providing the person concerned still meets the eligibility requirements, has met his conditions of appointment, and still wants to be a Justice of the Peace.

A Justice of the Peace will cease to hold office when they reach the age of 70. It is expected that applicants will be able to commit for a full five year term on appointment.
